Our small but mighty farm is heading into its 29th season, and we’re looking for kindred spirits to join in the work, the dirt, the thought, the sweat and the joy of farming on Madison’s southern edge.
For all positions, we are looking for individuals who share our commitment to hard work, punctuality, respect for one another, and a drive to continually improve. Our mantras are “We are always moving forward” and “We are all in this together” and these drive our work philosophy and business. We value and reward previous relevant experience in our hiring, and also reward those who hit the ground running with energy and grit. In-season raises and end-of-year bonuses are often given to those who contribute directly to the farm’s success.
Open Positions for 2024 and beyond:
Field Crew Leader (March through November), full-time position. This is a great opportunity for someone with 1-2 seasons of vegetable farm work under their belt who wants to build leadership skills and continue their farm training. Hourly Wage commensurate with experience, starting at $16/hr. CSA share and farm surplus included, PTO, Health care stipend, work gear stipend.
Organic Vegetable Farm Apprenticeship We work with FairShare CSA Coalition and the State of WI to be a farm host for this registered apprenticeship opportunity. Visit the Program Website for Details
Field Crew: (April-June through August-Oct), full-time and part-time positions available. Participate in all aspects of vegetable production for CSA and market from seed to distribution. Hourly Wage based on relevant experience, starting at $15/hr. CSA share and farm surplus included. PTO, Health care stipend, and work gear stipend for full time, full season staff.
CSA Distribution Lead Manage logistics, staffing, and customer service at our on-farm CSA distribution on Wednesdays. Hourly Wage commensurate with experience starting at $18/hr. Can be paired with a Field Crew position for more weekly hours on the farm, or as a stand-alone gig. Work hours are 12:30pm-7:30pm Wednesdays April through November. CSA share included.
Farmers Market Lead Take the Lead at our Market Stand at the Westside Community Market! Great side gig for a early-rising fast-mover with great mental math :). Hourly Wage commensurate with experience starting at $20/hr, lots of farm produce included. Work hours are 5am-2pm Saturdays, and starts/ends at the farm.
Farmers Market Staff Help to staff our stand with the farm team at the Westside Community Market! Again—great side gig for a early-rising fast-mover with great mental math. Hourly Wage commensurate with experience starting at $15/hr, lots of farm produce included. Work hours are 6am-1pm Saturdays, but can vary a bit based on who opens/closes the stand.

Each year we have a group of CSA Worker Share members who work in the field each week in exchange for their CSA shares.

Volunteer Work Days
During the summer field season (June through mid August), we invite volunteers to join in our morning activities every Thursday from 8am-12pm. You will receive farm vegetables for your morning of work, and get to experience life on the farm crew without making a full-season commitment.
